What to expect…

You’re thinking about booking studio time? Or maybe you’re just curious for the moment- that’s OK, too. It makes sense to know what you’re in for on arrival at FSS. Some of this will be specific to THIS studio, other bits will be for the purpose of increasing your understanding of studios in general.

For one thing, the more you know in advance, the more efficient will be your recording experience. We’ll save time, and you’ll save money. Secondly, there are a great many questions that I get asked over and over. By endeavoring to answer them here, I save myself sounding like a broken record.

I will begin by breaking this discussion into three parts: Preparation, arrival at the studio, and finishing up/ winding down.

Read all that? Still with me? Good. Most of what you’ve just read is general information, aimed at getting  you acquainted with the studio. Now let’s consider the following:

There are all kinds of sessions, and all kinds of studios. But- and now I’m oversimplifying- sessions can be grouped into three basic types. Let’s call them “Tracking’” Mixing,” and “Mastering.” Read on for information specific to those three groups!
